So, Saturday night I was surfing through my Facebook account (www.StephOnFacebook.com) - way too late I might add, I should have been asleep - when I came across an up date from my buddy Denise Wakeman. She is turning the big 5-0 in June (I was so shocked to hear that) and is doing a special birthday program. I was so thrilled, I had to tell you about it too.

Let me start by saying that this blog that you are reading was initially developed by the blog squad and Denise is one of the two founders. So, Saturday night I was Facebookin it and I saw that Denise was doing a birthday tribute to herself by giving to others through Kiva. How cool is that? I had been wanting to look closer at Kiva, but it had just fallen to the bottom of my list. Celebrating with Denise was just the kick in the pa-too-kus that I needed to get my account set up. It was SO easy!
Here is the thing, Kiva is an online micro-lending platform. It is a place where people like you and me can make a difference for someone anywhere in the world. It is NOT a hand out. It is a HAND UP.
