If you are like me, you can get pretty frustrated calling a customer service line only to spend hours going in technological circles and you either speak or press a variety of numbered choices just hoping that you will get to a person that will speed things up for you! Today I will share a great online tool to help you speed up the time you spend waiting around on automated telephone systems and other customer service challenges.
At One Time I Made These Systems!
I have to start this post by admitting that at one time in my career I created IVR (Interactive Voice Response) systems! As a programmer, I would write the technology behind the voice on the phone getting you to where you wanted to go when you pressed a number. Back then it was considered high tech to allow the user to navigate to their wants and the "trees" were smaller so you did not end up going in circles like you do today in many phone systems. I had loads of fun doing this system development, but after a while Nancy's voice (all of our recordings were done by the same person - Nancy) got very old very quickly! But enough about my past jobs...
Introducing GET HUMAN!!
Some brilliant guys created http://www.gethuman.com/about.html
From their About Page: The gethuman™ movement has been created from the voices of millions of consumers who want to be treated with dignity when they contact a company for customer support. Our main goals right now:
- catalog steps to bypass automated (ivr) phone systems to speak directly to a human main database extended
- establish standards for customer care based on input from customers (not businesses)
- allow users to rate businesses for their customer service
- allow users to discuss customer service experiences
- allow users to share tips on how to contact help and receive better service
Check it out today and tell me about your experiences. I have already saved a bunch of time using this great web site.
Thanks!
Much thanks to my colleagues from The Business Connection http://www.the-biz-connection.com/default.aspx for this great resource.
