Dimensions: The Miche bag is 5.75" (wide) x 11.75" (long)x 6.5" (tall)
Classic Bag Materials: The exterior of the bag is made of a silk/polyester blend.
Shell Materials: According to the company site, the shell material varies depending on the style, but can be: faux leather, faux crocodile skin, faux cheetah fur, regular nylon, textured nylon, canvas, or cotton and all of their products are 100% animal friendly.
The Magnets: Not only are they strong and permanent, but they are also called "earth magnets." This means that they carry the benefit of being absolutely harmless to credit cards, iPod's, cell phones, and other similar electronic devices.
Available Styles: There is one bag shape and as of today over 45 different styles of shells. They come in a number of colors and styles range from artsy to traditional, to funky, to girly to trendy. Here are a few of the sample images:
What's in the Box
My order arrived in the advertised 5-7 business days and they did a great job of communicating order status through email. Each ordered piece was wrapped in a clear cellophane to protect it during shipment.
Pros
You can choose a black or brown base purse that goes with most things.
- Bag is constructed very well.
- The bag comes with short handles, but if you want to have longer straps, you can purchase them for an additional $7.95. When I attempted to switch the handles it was much easier than anticipated. The switch only took about 5 minutes to remove the original handles and put the new ones on.
- The magnets are surprisingly strong.
- The feet on the bottom of the shell help to make sure that your bag does not get dirty.
- Save space - Since the shells fold down to a very small size, you can store a number of them in the same spot that a traditional purse would sit.
Cons
- If you throw your purse around - say in the car - you may have a bit more difficulty with this purse. I did a throw test for a couple of weeks. While the shell did not come off every time, it did have a tendency to get caught on something in the car and come off part way.
- If you prefer a navy color for your purse, you can get a number of navy shells, but you cannot get a navy base (at this time)
- There is only one bag style, so if you don't like the one, you will not take such delight in this product.
Conclusion
The Miche Bag has become my bag of choice. I used to have a few other purses, but quite honestly, I never changed them because I was just too lazy. I did not like finding new ways for the contents of my purse to fit into each different bag. Quite frankly, I just did not want to take the time. So, I would wear the same bag regarless of outfit until it was broken down and no longer looking good. This does not happen with the Miche bag. I now have 3 different shells and a number of other shells that I would like to have at some point. The versitility is easy and it is quite impressive how well the exact same shaped purse can look so different as the shells are changed.
