My brother really made me laugh this time! You see, every year, he asks my family for lists of items that we would like to have for Christmas. This year, when he sent his annual request, he also sent a threat! He told us that if we did not get a list to him, we would get a "scary clock." Well, my curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on the link that he sent. It took me to the SnūzNLūz - Wifi Donation Alarm Clock. What? So I read on. Hey! It may be a good referral for my blog readers afterall. ThinkGeek Computing
The copy begins, "For years the masses have told you that if you snooze you lose. You never believed them. You held your head high and slept in whenever you wanted to, always without fear of loss. Well, dear friends, the times have changed. The ingenious sages at ThinkGeek Labs(TM) have finally created the Ultimate weapon against snoozing - the SnūzNLūz(TM). People who enjoy sleeping in are cowering in fear all across the globe - it's finally true, when you snooze, you lose!"
Hmm... this really got my interest up. Afterall, I hit the snooze myself! So, I read on:
"ThinkGeek, it sounds great! But how does it really work? Glad you asked....it's quite simple actually. The SnūzNLūz uses the very complex psychological phenomenon known as HATRED. Basically it's human nature to wish harm upon your enemies. Similarly, it's human nature not to give your enemies gobs of cash so that they can grow big and dominate the world with their totally wrong, stupid and invalid point of view. ThinkGeek realized that. That's why every time you hit the snooze button, the SnūzNLūz will donate a specified amount of your real money to a non-profit you hate. The problem of sleeping in is solved."
OK, so now I know that it is a joke, but what an idea! has a semi-warped sense of humor, but it did keep my attention. I looked a little further on the site and found that it was indeed a joke for last year's April Fools day. But, hey, I was already on the site, so I thought I should check out their real products. I found quite a few that could be of real benefit to my time pressed readers. Here is what I found:
Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock This clock would be great for your bedroom or your office. If you use it at home there are two separate 7-day alarm schedules. That means that you have 2 different alarms (person 1 and person 2) that can schedule different alarms for each day of the week. Then, they made it a bit more fancy by making each of those 14 alarms set to a different time and ring tone (one of 4 buzzers or 20 preset radio stations). Then, they have another bank of every day alarms. That's 21 alarms in total! So how would this work in the office? This clock is great for people that have ADD/ADHD or loose track of time. Different alarms could be set throughout the week to remind you of what you need to accomplish.
While they target self proclaimed "geeks" the site has a number of great products and sometimes funny copy. I also found password managers, power stations for all of your electronic gadgets and power cords, and mini business card file cabinet just to name a few! If you are in the market for a clock, try one of these out and let me know how it goes. Or, tell me about a great time management clock that you know about. Comment in the comment section below!
